Game Fully Crashes Entire PC
It's very erratic as to how it happens- I could be playing for 15 minutes or for an hour, and then the game fully freezes everything, and I mean everything, on my pc. I cannot tab out, I can't open task manager, I can't do anything until I force restart my pc. There are no crash logs shown, and the only error report is my pc telling me that it was shut down improperly.

sebastiaanyeah same here, game works fine and suddenly freezes my whole laptop. have to restart it because no command still works. tried updating drivers, have the specs needed to play it and still dropped it to low but seems that isn't the problem. also gave it clearance for the firewall.

GodsbaneSame thing is happening to me.
Specs: MSI Z390-A PRO ATX, I9-9900k CPU, 32 GB DDR4/3000MHz, 3 1TB SSD's, RTX 2800 Super, Windows 10, 2560 x 1440 144Hz Display
This only happens when I play Velheim. I tested it today, I played 7 days to die for 4 hours straight without a hitch then switched to Escape from Tarkov for 5 hours. Once again without any sort of hitch. I boot up Valheim and my system has to be hard booted after playing for 30 minutes. All my drivers are up to date. I've messed with the graphics settings, messed with the NVIDA settings, messed with the window settings and still it crashes. Screen goes black and I can still hear sound and even my discord is still working but the computer doesn't respond to any input, no ctrl-alt-del no window mode no nothing. Only thing I can think of is maybe it's GSYNC? I am going to turn off Gsync and see if anything changes. Anyone else here using gsync? -

JoshI have a similar thing. It was fine on the first 2-3 launches but now whenever I launch it it gets to the Valheim logo and the cursor comes on and my PC just bricks. I can still hear the music and other programs like Discord continue to function but all I can see is a black, white, and even a static effect like on an old CRT monitor and I am unable to control anything or use keyboard shortcuts like Alt+F4,Ctrl+Alt+Del, or Ctrl+L. At first I thought my graphics card finally gave in but it doesn't seem to happen on any other games.
The parts that I have played of the game seemed great but this bug has rendered it impossible for me to play it. -

RussianWhen I made my first character and world, and tried to launch it, it plays a text crawl. Something about All-Father Odin, and whatnot. But like 2 seconds into it, my entire PC shuts down. There's no BSoD, there's no BSoD report, it just... restarts. Tried verifying integrity, re-installing newest drivers, turning down settings, nothing works.

I've had the exact same issue. It seems like the kind of crash you get when there's been an invalid memory access or something like that. The only issue that comes up in Event Viewer is the generic "computer shut down unexpectedly." I have to hard restart to be able to get anything back. It's definitely related to Valheim because I've been playing other games and working with other programs, and both times it happened while playing Valheim. I haven't noticed any real pattern to it, it seems to just happen randomly after playing for a while. -

Louis-Philippe Demoneti am having similar issues where it suddently crash after a random amount of time. i have Win 10 home, I9 9900K, 32G ddr4 3600,5700XT 8G GPU and 750W Psu. proper cooling doesn't exeed 65C and no other games crashed, all drivers are up to date amd it either freeze with a buzzing sound or just turns to a fully green screen both stop responding. only force restart works. it's really upsetting because the game is nice but without autosave there is no way of progressing

JTAnytime I enter a sunken crypt, my entire PC crashes. I’ve done everything from driver updates to rollbacks, nothing. Would really appreciate a fix considering it wiped two of my worlds before I used another server not on my PC.

I've played the game for a few hours but then it frozen my whole pc and forced a hard reboot, now every time I open the game it crashes my pc and my CPU fan sounds like it hit a turbo charger. It'll only stop after a hard reboot. Don't have any issues with other games. -

Lurking_TonberryI'm having the same issue but mine seems to happen within a 10 min window of starting the game (as in playing and doing stuff in my world). Then the crash happens... whole PC, everything. I play on a high end NZXT rig. The way the game is behaving my theory is that something is going on with the way the game saves or records whatever it was you did. For example I had an instance where I built a raft and sailed it, got a few blue berries, chopped some wood, game crashes. Restart the PC play again... the save was just before I built the raft. Do it again and sail, only now... there's a another raft just aimlessly floating out there... my inventory is perfectly the way it was before I got the berries and wood. Anyways that's my theory, I hope you guys can fix this bug, I really love the game so far.

JoshI have this same bug. What happens to me is the first time I log into Valheim after a PC restart, the game will crash hard.
After that crash it won't happen again until the next time I restart my PC.
The side effect to this crash is that it will delete any items that were added to my inventory after logging in and duplicate any items that I took out of my inventory after I logged in. -

AdamBought Valheim for my partner. The application launches fine, but every time she hits Start, the game sits on the loading screen for around a minute, and then the computer bluescreens. Tried turning down to minimum settings, windowed/fullscreen, running as admin, changing the world seed, and updating the graphics drivers; same result.
The computer itself is a gaming laptop running Windows 10 with an Nvidia GTX960M graphics card, 8GB RAM, and Intel i7-6700HQ processor.
Edit: The bluescreen says the error is DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. In Nvidia Control Panel, the application seems to have defaulted to using the integrated graphics processor, although changing that to force it to use the discrete graphics card hasn't fixed the problem. -

ShaneSame issue! Love the game but this is making it impossible to play. I'll boot up the game, load my world and the minute I get in, my whole PC crashes.

peepoopfartI have logged about 40 hours in game. Probably 4 of those hours are trying to get into the game. 20 of the hours are afk time just sitting in base because I am too afraid to log off as I get BSoD on loading into the world 90% of the time. I have only gotten BSoD while in game once. I don't know why loading into the world is the issue.....
I have tried reinstalling to different drives, reinstalling windows, using a DDU to uninstall then fresh installing GPU drivers, RAM tests. editing boot file, changing priorities to valheim.exe to 'high priority', loading into new worlds, loading into other peoples worlds, new characters, deleting main character and starting over.....probably other things that I can't remember. Not gonna list my specs because I know its not the issue. Don't have this problem with any other games.... -

specterSame here. It's sporadic but definitly there.
In certain regions i was able to occasionally reproduce it. It seems it happens more often in the swamp biome or the border to one.
Switching graphics from high to medium didn't work.
No BSoD, just freeze, sometimes loud distorted sound.

ValhamSame. If I check windows ‘event viewer’ for BSODs, I can see at the time of crash “A TCG Command has returned an error”. Checking online, this error causes the exact issues we’re seeing here. Lots of people have reported this as a hardware issue with their disk drive. I’m going replacing my SSD and reinstalling windows to see how it goes.
