Entire server gone. Need to be fixed fast.
I logged into my server today, and I can't see anything but grass. My buildings, all the trees I cut, npc etc. are gone.
20+ hours progress gone sadly. Asked a developer on the discord, and I was told that they're aware of the issue, and it seems to have something to do with not closing the game correctly (like alt+f4).
I wanted to post it here so other people can see this, and hopefully we can get a update here.

HalduSame here, using a dedicated server. Happened before at the 10. of feb., afterwards we made frequent backups. Today, both our backed-up and regular save files are corrupted, wiping all non-map marker, non-character progress.

ramsessame happened to me, week of work, 3 friends, around 200 hours gone

ramsesI was able to recreate this 3 different times after it originally happened to me. Alt-F4'ing while in the process of logging out of your map will wipe it.

KozSame thing happened for our server, everything reset (bases we built,etc..). Seems the devs are working on it, hope it gets fixed soon, love the game other than this nasty bug!

MicroKissI can confirm this is happening even with our dedicated server. Seems like something is happening when no player is on the server and everything gets deleted

KillerCorpsFound something interesting in regards to this. On my server. I noticed that when I quit the game either by stopping the server or elsewise. The world save Database file splits into 2. It recreates the same DB file and puts the other at <nameofworld>.db.old which can be say 26 megs and then you'll see another one thats <nameofworld>.db thats only 20 megs. Start the server up again and try to log in...black screen. restart the server again and boom the DB file is reset back to a fresh file and the <nameofworld>.db.old is gone. I've recreated it several times now. Thankfully I keep a backup of my worlds.

TexasRebelWhat I have noticed is when everyone has left the server it takes about 5 minutes before I can go in and see a new backup has been made without action from an administrator. We try to log into the server and get a black screen with ocean ambient music, which leads to a server restart. Once that was done the world had essentially been set back to day 0. Without fail this has happened anytime the last player leaves the server, but we can utilize a backup we made 10 minutes before.
A friend new to the game has heard about issue from us and suggested that I logoff first, then quit the game. I realized every time I have been quitting out of the game from our rented server. Tonight I was last off and tried logging off / then quitting...saw new backup file, but this time world hadnt wiped. Will try to test this out more as I can not confirm how others on my server are leaving the game at this time (quit button or log off then quit button). -

MrLighzI just experienced this, dont understand though (but maybe helps developers to understand).
I run a private linux dedicated server, fresh setup with debian.
Since there was already a world in progress with some other players, I copied the already played world into default path (the *.db and the *.fwl). I wanted to make it quick and changed the name. I took close monitoring of resources during start. Start of the server with the changed World led to 2 cores going to 100% after each other for about 10s, after that one core went to 100% for 30+ seconds.
After Login, all structures were gone, only already explored map areas visible.
Stopped Server and copied world-files again, this time no name change.
This time, startup was normal, only the 2 cores for 10s at 100%, no 30+s phase. All structures were present in world (though Playerpos was changed to the position walked in the 'damaged' world.)
Hope it is understandable. I have both worlds (the wiped and the precopy). just contact me. -

MrLighzappendix:
just tested some
name change does not necessary cause a problem, tested the previous 'broken' world in a parallel setup with another Character. no missing buildings.
so save is ok, maybe load is sometimes causing problems? -

Thomas FahertyThis happened to me when I first tried to make a public server. I backed up my world just in case. I then renamed the world. Made the server and pointed it to the renamed world. Everything was wiped. So I tried loading the map on hosted rather than server and same. I also notice despite me renaming the world it now shows two worlds of the same name on my world list. I don't think it recognized the name change and now both my world and the backup are dead. I did also notice if I totally delete these worlds, some how when I launch the game it just remakes the files... If I could get that to stop I could probably fix this.

KyleFor those having this issue on a dedicated server, check that your game install directory is excluded from daily/weekly backups to hard disks if using a cache drive. I use unraid and have Valheim on my cache SSD, if I don't exclude it from the move to HDD command it will erase your world's.
