Overheating PC
Do not why, by when I run the game, my pc turns into jet engine. Goot water cooling on CPU.

MeasurityIf you don't want your pc to run so hot you can set fps target (max fps) in nvidia control panel. Say you run at 80 fps you can set it to 60. If you also have low fps then wait for more optimizations.

HotPCSame here. Nitro 5 laptop with RTX 2060 (16GB RAM, i5). GPU and (especially) the CPU are scorching at over 85c. I tried all graphic options turned down as well as limited FPS to 60 in the NVIDIA settings.

Blake Batemanin /steamapps/common/Valheim/Valheim_Data folder
open the boot.config file and add the following 2 lines to the top:
gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1
gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1
This should increase your CPU and GPU usage and as a result increase/stabilize FPS.

HotPCI actually ended up doing a bit more research, and it appears the culprit is Intel's turbo boost technology. Well, that in combination with the fact that the cooling situation isn't usually ideal with a gaming laptop.
So, I disabled turbo boost in my Windows power settings and my CPU temp stays in the 70s (and I believe it has had a knock on effect of keeping my GPU cooler).
The downside is that there is unsurprisingly a slight hit to performance (on high settings my FPS stays about 45-55ish). However, I'm hoping this improves with more optimization of the game since even with my modest setup I should be able to play something like Valheim on high without issue. -

QuazilLimit your frame-rates or play full-screen and enable v-sync.

LumiI'm running an i9, 64GB memory and an RTX 2070 Super. Heat and power are hitting significant problems near water. Take a raft somewhere? Forget it.

EnceladusSame issue here (RTX 2070). No issues with CPU load/overheating for me, but GPU just keeps climbing, done all the suggested changes to config/launch params etc. Went in and turned everything to lowest & incrementally added/increased options back in/up, main culprit (for me at least) was the SSAO just hammering the GPU. With SSAO off temps settle about 60-65. FPS limiting to 60 made little to no difference for me. Though unless SSAO was off. As HotPC says, I'm sure it'll get fixed up with an optimise pass.

Gatherer ThompsonBought Valheim hoping for lower GPU temps, and all was well for the first 20+ hours (staying at a steady 76C), but after that it started climbing into the 81-85C range (when Fallout 4 w/graphics mods and GTAV etc don't take my GPU above 80C).

Stressing GPUThe first day I played, it seemed fine, but now the gpu reaches max temp even on the main menu. Lowered everything but nothing helped.

DaivukI have this issue in various games, including Satisfactory, which runs on a different engine (Unreal vs. Unity). Turning VSync On fixes this for me. I don't particularly appreciate tearing anyway.

Slayerwolfi7-9700 RTX2070 16GB ram. No water cooling
I also have high temps. Hit 85 on my cpu 80 on my video.
Limited the fps through geforce control panel to 60 playing fullscreen with v-sync
Also lower the graphics a bit. Cpu temps are at 79 video card in the 60's
Anything else to try? -

yslyGPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
16 gb Ram 3000mhz
2560x1440p 144hz Monitor
When playing 1440p on everything max my GPU goes up to 100°C. No extrem heating on CPU end no matter what options.
Felt like turning SSAO, Sun Shafts, Soft Particles and Depth of Field on makes my GPU go up hard in Temperature.
For w/e reason when in main menu the temperature of the GPU is way higher than ingame with the same settings.
So i can play without any issues when 1440p with everything on medium and no effects on. But i feel like my pc should run it easily with everything on max. Mostly likely needs some time to better optimize it, but wanted to share my experience with heating.
If you got issues maybe it might help you lowering the general settings first, then effects and last the Resolution. -

KyleI know this is a redundant post, but make sure your PC cases have proper case cooling options. I'm running a 5950x liquid cooled and an RTX 2080 and have no temp issues, however, I did a fan upgrade yesterday and it dropped my GPU temp by 20c consistently, I'm guessing I had a dead spot.

Alfa BhtaI have the same problem my gpu rx580 reach 89 degrees I have everything off everything at low and even in the menu the gpu has 89 degrees.
