Pickaxe is raising the ground instead of lowering it
While trying to terraform a ravine I encountered an issue where I cannot lower the ground any further as the pickaxe is doing the opposite of what it is supposed to. I tried a hoe to level the ground further but I seem to have reached the max of what I can do. I have a video of the issue but can't include it here

AllenI had the same issue, turned into adding dirt in some strange corner, at the same time giving me infinite stone.
Very strange, hard to carve out a nice HUGE flat spot on a hill when the hill will NOT go away, because it has turned into an infinite stone mine, but super slow to gather resources from it. -

NateI've seen similar when trying to level an area. Picking the wall in front of me will frequently result in a slight rise (useful if you want a ramp, annoying otherwise). And in one corner, there was an area that I could not flatten, even though I was able to pick away most of the height, as significant hill remained. I found I could use the hoe to lower it a bit, but a whack with the pick would raise it again. It may be that you can only pick down so far from the original surface level, which would be a weird way of doing it (instead of building up from a zero level that you can dig down to).
Also, when I upgraded to a bronze pick, I started seeing issues of the first hit taking away the terrain and the second replacing it...I did this 10-20 times in one spot and duplicated it in other spots. This was in a local game, so shouldn't have been lag induced. -

KagurezMy friends and I have encountered this problem too while digging a flat ground to make a large main base. The digging went fine at first, but as we started to have a nice clear and flat area and got to work on enlarging it, things became more annoying. We have found a workaround by having one of us use his pickaxe on the ground, effectively raising the ground at most spots, then another person flattens things and suddenly spots that we couldn't flatten started lowering more than we could before. It is an extremely, extremely tedious process though, and we really hope that it is a bug and not how things are intended to be.

MachariusSpent hours on trying to make a trench between both shores of a peninsula (one side being what seems to be the ocean and other one a river). My goal was to make a trench large enough to build a little fortress having an harbour on each shore. But the fact is i won't achieve that as i'm getting stuck by the ground not being lowered with my pickaxe. It's a pity after all the time spent on this project. Would be nice if it could be corrected (parts of the ground i can't lowered are still far above the sea level).

Rushused lots of time to create large flat area, 32m * 50+ m. Having 2 spots (4*4 and 12*4m) that cant be lowered at the same level as the rest.
Hoe click = nothing happens
Hoe click + shift = nothing happens

Christopher KremserI was mining through a hill while making a sloping road and pickaxing was causing a very specific spot to rise instead of dig, all around it the pickaxe worked as expected. It was one of the “deeper”sections.

SythalinSame issues here. I've been trying to flatten out a hilltop and I've been trying to get rid of a small section for literally 3+ hours because it keeps building itself back up. This is ridiculous and makes no sense at all.

JonathanAlso having this issue. Trying to dig out a gorge into the side of a hill to build a harbor town and after digging far enough inland, the ground refuses to go down and pickaxe keeps adding mountains
