Feature: RCON support OR a proper server console
This game lacks a lot of tools for admin of dedicated servers, but most important is ability to use commands without game client.
There two common ways to implement this feature:
1. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Source_RCON_Protocol
2. Interactive command line (rarely see it in unity games, but still it's a good option)

faloWould be great to see for providing a restart warning to logged in players - makes automated updates much less of a frustration for always on servers.

LorienI would say interactive command line option is more handy than rcon for Automated update has the script only has to type the commands over establishing an rcon session.

JanneMasaThat's why i have to keep auto restarts at specific time when i know that there shouldn't be anyone at server and only once per day.
It would be great if i could send messages throught rcon to players when there will be restart so they don't have to swim back from ocean to shore after restart. -

mhwcatIt would also be great if game reported list of currently logged in players on dedicated server without need to login as player. It is possible to fetch general information (like current player count and version) about game server using Steam A2S queries, but player list is always empty.

MrX2000I think this is a good idea.
Rcon protocol itself is pretty shabby and there is no official protocol specification available.
So if this is to be implemented my suggestion is to follow Minecraft implementation for maximum compatibility with existing rcon clients.
One noteworthy thing is that rcon protocol carries the login password as cleartext and therefore introduces potential security problem.
But honestly server admins should be aware of this and configure their servers accordingly (use ssh tunnel instead of exposing rcon port to public etc.).
