Describe as much as you can how you launch the game, and what happens.
Which is your Processor, Graphical cards, RAM memory?
Have you any mods installed? If so, please uninstall, verify your installed files (worst cate, reinstall have worked for a few players)
Have you changed boot.ini file?
Have you steam version (Build mars 23 2021) if you don't, restart steam or your whole computer)
Try to disable steam cloud saves (picture attached)
Some files are saved in C:\Users\ <username \AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim backup your world and character folders and remove the rest.

PitWin 10, latest patches, latest drivers, i9-10900K, 32 Gb RAM, GeForce RTX 2060 Super
Stream Cloud disabled, overlay disabled.
Game uninstalled, reinstalled, drivers reinstalled, modes removed, antivirus stopped.
Game crashes when starting with my only character (left in Black Forest on Copper). If graphics settings are set to low on all and all "checkboxes" are removed - it may work for a minute or two and then crash.
So... I created another character in the same world (local, no server).
I brought this char to my base, sent him to that "copper" location for some mining - no crashes yet even on Max graphics settings.
But the map is almost not opened.
If I try original char - it crashes (in UnityPlayer module).
So, folks - something wrong with saves and graphics, because another char at the same location works. -

No mods installed, reinstalled game, disabled Steam cloud saves. Steam launch options are: "-force-vulkan -console -window-mode exclusive -screen-fullscreen".
The game only crashes when heading near my base. -

junglebrad*UPDATE* I had to verify installed files twice in Steam, but now everything is working great.

S.nGame doesn't connect to any game server apart from my local one.
Restarted steam, computer
Reinstalled game. Firewall has not blocked the game.
My friends can connect to the same server that means the server is updated. Does it have something to do with slower load times (because my game loads very slow; low end pc), or due to slow internet connection (connection is decent, other games work at 50-60 ms ping without packet loss) -

Alemy game also broke with this update, my personal game and also the game in a dedicated server. no mod installed. before i had no lag problem while playing and now it is a major problem.
the difficulties are: moving into the base, loading time increased a lot while teleporting through portals and fighting creatures became also difficult due to the lag. it seems that my friends have less problems in the server.
I reinstalled the game. Firewall has not blocked the game. disable steam cloud saves. lower graphics and nothing changed at all. steam update also done.

LuciusMy framerate went from ~35 fps down to 3-4 fps after this patch
My machine specs:
Windows 10
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (driver has been updated to 461.92)
Intel Core i7 8700T CPU @ 2.40 GHz
16 GB RAM
Native PC resolution: 3440x1440
My driver version was static, before and after the Valheim patch. I tried loading to the most recent driver and no change.
It's now completely unplayable. The server I am playing on is a dedicated server, and the other players on it with Radeon cards are not reporting any issues - and the net code improvements seemed to make things better for them.
Meanwhile, my machine is ~3-4 FPS while at the base. I tried even logging onto a local empty world and the FPS was still ~7 FPS.
Things I tried:
turned off/down all in game graphics settings
used minimum resolution
adding this to the boot.config (gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1, gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1)
boosting task manager process to High -

S.nAnother thing to add is that the server logs show zrpc timeout before disconnecting. Can anything be done about that?
-
26 Mar
Smiffe AdminThe ZRpc thing is the disconnect handle when your server isn't responding after 30 seconds. it's to prevent other issues with saves.. like you play for hours, and the server haven't saved anything :(
-

S.n:(
So can anything be done about it? Coz seems like it will affect a lot of low spec systems. Like maybe can be increased to a min or so is possible?
:( -
27 Mar
Smiffe Admin@S.n. One issue tho. the longer we have it, the more progress would be not saved... :/
it's a balance between disconnecting users, or having them play for hours, and then everything rolls back beacuse the client and server don't sync -

GeForce GTX 1060
The game started lagging after this update. Turned off antialiasing and motion blur as well as turning down graphics qualities to compensate. With these settings, the game was playable, mostly. Having more than a few enemies at the same time, or running through dense woods, or when it rained would make the lag unbearable again. Since the v0.148.7 update today, there aren't settings low enough to make the game functional. -

How is it in other games? when you max out graphics?
Do you have a laptop?
Can you check your GPU temperature? (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and pick performance tab, GPU
It sounds to me you have a overheat issue more than the actual game. Valheim really does give your computer a workout.
(My own specs are I5-6500, Geforce 1060 6Gb 16Gb DDR4 ram. so we should have simular gaming experiences, but we do not from my reading of your explanation) -

Get a freeze then Valheim is not responding at random times but think it is around the save time. Before latest patch I could minimise by pressing windows key and maximise game and it would avoid the crash. After latest patch I have noticed game no longer runs in exclusive fullscreen mode. When windows key pressed the start menu appears over the game. All progress up to previous save is lost as a force close is required. -

JVoltWhen I try to start the game in Vulkan mode, the game starts but the main menu does not appear. Only black screen. After last patch, everything was fine again until today. Again it does not start in Vulkan mode only black screen (after showing Valheim title). In normal mode everything works fine.
My spec is RTX 3070 (last drivers) Ryzen 5 3600 32GB RAM Win 10 Home -

Smiffe AdminIf you try to start the game without Vulkan then?
Vulkan is just another way to start the game. it's not a "must have" function
